Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci said Tuesday President Trump is questioning the credibility of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report because it will contain information that will “look not great for him” and his administration.
“There’s likely paragraphs that probably are going to look not great for him or people in the administration or people in the transition and so that doesn’t mean anybody did anything wrong, but they could have been approached by people and they could have had conversations with people that they probably shouldn’t have,” he told CNN
Mr. Scaramucci added the best strategy for the president is to “lay low” because “public opinion” has moved past the report.
“I think most of the public has this in their rear-view mirror…at the end of the day I think it’s behind the president so I wouldn’t be pushing it too hard,” he said.
Attorney General William Barr announced Monday he will be releasing the redacted version of the report to Congress and the public Thursday morning.
The attorney general released the summary of the report last month, saying Mr. Mueller did not recommend criminal conspiracy or obstruction charges against Mr. Trump or anyone on his team.
Mr. Scaramucci served as Mr. Trump’s White House communications director for 11 days before being fired.
