MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia University plans to increase its in-state tuition at its Morgantown campus by about $120.
The Herald-Dispatch reports the school’s Board of Governors voted Friday to approve the tuition hike for the next academic year.
The student representative on the board was the only one to vote no. The university didn’t reveal the proposed tuition increase before the vote.
The school says the increases to tuition and room and board rates will total about $520 for in-state students. Additionally, annual in-state tuition for nursing students will jump about $740 while out-of-state nursing students will increase by about $6,000.
WVU Communications Senior Executive Director John Bolt says this tuition increase is the lowest the school has seen in at least 20 years.
