WOODS CROSS, Utah (AP) - Police in Woods Cross say a man has died after deliberately stepping in front of a Union Pacific train.

Authorities say the 40-year-old pedestrian was hit shortly after 8 a.m. Monday. Investigators now believe he was trying to take his own life.

Utah Transit Authority spokesman Carl Arky says the incident led to FrontRunner trains going southbound to be delayed between 30 and 40 minutes at the Woods Cross stop. Trains going northbound are also being delayed at the North Temple stop.

The trains are now moving through the area.

But a bus is still being deployed to take commuters between the two stops.

The man’s name has not been released.
