Reps. Adam B. Schiff and Devin Nunes reportedly came together in March, calling for special counsel Robert Mueller to testify before the intelligence committee and provide them “all materials” obtained during the Russia investigation.
In a letter obtained by The Daily Beast, Mr. Schiff, the Democratic chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and Mr. Nunes, the Republican ranking member, showed rare bipartisan cooperation and asked for Mr. Mueller and his team to brief their committee on their findings into 2016 election interference.
The letter also requested “all materials, regardless of form and classification, obtained or produced by the Special Counsel’s Office in the course of the investigation, including but not limited to any addenda or annexes to the full report.”
The pair sent the letter to Attorney General William P. Barr, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher A. Wray on March 27, shortly after Mr. Barr released his four-page summary of the conclusions made in Mr. Mueller’s report.
Mr. Barr announced Monday he will be releasing the redacted version of the report to Congress and the public on Thursday morning.
Despite this, House Democrats have called for the full, uncensored report to be provided to top congressional officials.
The attorney general released the summary last month, saying Mr. Mueller exonerated President Trump and his campaign from any collusion with Russia but chose to not make a determination on obstruction of justice.
Mr. Barr and Mr. Rosenstein said there is not enough evidence to pursue charges for obstruction of justice.
