SEATTLE (AP) - The chief executive officer of Seattle City Light says company officials still don’t know why 26 utility poles collapsed near the Museum of Flight.
The Seattle Times reports the poles fell April 5 along East Marginal Way in Tukwila. One crashed into a car and narrowly missed two people inside.
Seattle City Light CEO Debra Smith says one of the most important things the company wants to know is which pole fell first.
She says she guesses that one pole fell and pulled down the others.
Smith says finding a qualified firm to conduct a review is taking longer than expected. Utility officials are in talks with a national engineering firm.
The two oldest poles were installed in 1954 and the five newest in 2011.
