Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts on Wednesday released her joint 2018 tax returns — making her the third candidate in the 2020 presidential field to give voters a look at their most recent finances and ratcheting up pressure on other candidates to follow suit.
The return showed that Ms. Warren and her husband, Bruce Mann, a Harvard law professor, together made more than $905,000 in 2018, paid more than $206,000 in federal taxes and gave more than $50,000 to charity.
“There’s a crisis of faith in government — and that’s because the American people think the government works for the wealthy and well-connected, not for them,” Ms. Warren said. “And they’re right. I’ve put out 11 years of my tax returns because no one should ever have to guess who their elected officials are working for. Doing this should be law.”
Ms. Warren had already posted a decade of her returns online and is pushing legislation that would force presidential and vice presidential candidates to release their tax returns.
