NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - Thirteen faculty members at Yale University say they are withdrawing from its Ethnicity, Race and Migration program in protest of what they call a lack of support from the school’s administration.

The faculty members say the university has not fulfilled promises of more support to the program.

The professors say their departure leaves the program founded in 1997 without any tenured faculty or professional leadership. They say they were effectively asked to volunteer their labor for the program in addition to their obligations to other departments.

Yale President Peter Salovey says it hired two new senior faculty members into the program last year and expects to hire two others this year. He said the university will make sure affected students receive the support they need.
