Tom Brady announced his retirement Monday, but knowing it was April 1, it seems nobody was fooled for a second.
In the first tweet the superstar Patriots quarterback ever sent, Brady wrote that he was retiring from the NFL to give him more time to tweet.
I’m retiring. In my spare time, I’ll be tweeting #LFG

The internet has a rich history of April Fools’ Day pranks, but this nine-word tweet was too lame to amuse anyone:

On a similar note, congratulations on your 19-0 season!

The 41-year-old quarterback is an avid, savvy Instagram user, but he just joined Twitter last month and had not written a tweet until Monday. Perhaps he had this planned for weeks. One thing is for sure: Brady, who’s openly discussed his desire to play until 45, is not going anywhere yet.
