HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A drama student at a Connecticut university has been charged with stabbing two other students while rehearsing a scene from a movie.

NBC Connecticut reports University of Hartford student Jake Wascher was arraigned at Hartford Hospital Monday on first-degree assault and criminal attempt to commit murder. He was being held on a $1 million bond.

Hartford police Lt. Paul Cicero says the 21-year-old Wascher, of San Diego, stabbed the other students in a university apartment just after 1 p.m. Sunday while the three were rehearsing for a class project. He did not say what prompted it.

A 19-year-old student was taken to the hospital in critical condition and a 21-year-old student was hospitalized in serious condition.

Police say Wascher fled but was caught two hours later. His case wasn’t listed in online court records and it was unclear of he has a lawyer.
