Running back Samaje Perine and wide receiver Maurice Harris are the most notable players who won’t dress for the Washington Redskins in their season opener at Arizona on Sunday.

Harris was already ruled out as he recovers from a concussion. Behind the starting trio of Josh Doctson, Jamison Crowder and Paul Richardson, Harris’ absence means fans could see rookies Trey Quinn and Cam Sims get in on some four-receiver packages, if Washington chooses to run any.
Perine is the odd man out of the running back group; he is fourth on the Redskins’ depth chart behind Adrian Peterson, Chris Thompson and Rob Kelley.
Two of the seven inactives, defensive lineman Caleb Brantley and linebacker Josh Keyes, signed with the Redskins just last week. They have not had ample time to get acclimated or learn much of the playbook, so these are not surprises.
Third-round draft pick Geron Christian, an offensive tackle, is a bit of a surprise choice, however. Joining him is fellow rookie Adonis Alexander, the cornerback picked in the supplemental draft, and backup center Casey Dunn.
The Redskins also announced that Quinn is expected to return punts instead of Crowder. Crowder missed the preseason with a nagging groin problem.
For Arizona, third-string quarterback Mike Glennon and third-string tight end Jermaine Gresham are among the inactive players. Gresham entered Sunday questionable with an Achilles injury. Starting defensive end Markus Golden is out with a knee injury.
