When the Indianapolis Colts take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, quarterback Andrew Luck will play in his first game since the 2016 season. He missed all of last season while recovering from shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum.
But the extent of Luck’s injury history is worse than previously known.
Luck admitted to NFL Network he sprained his AC joint in his shoulder while snowboarding in the winter of 2016. The quarterback did not need surgery, but the injury occurred to his throwing shoulder.
Luck said the sprain did not affect the rehab of his torn labrum, which happened in 2015.
“I’ve seen more doctors than I can count on two hands over the past two or three years,” Luck said, “and the consensus — unanimous — is that the AC is not an issue, nor did it have an effect. The labrum is an issue.”
The former 2012 first overall pick is healthy enough to now play, something he said he’s grateful for. The Redskins play Luck and the Colts in Week 2.
Luck also said he’s given up snowboarding.
