HELENA, Mont. (AP) - Gov. Steve Bullock has named the director of the Montana Department of Environmental Quality to lead the state budget office.

Environmental Quality Director Tom Livers will replace Dan Villa, who is leaving the Office of Budget and Program Planning to take the helm of the Montana Board of Investments.

Bullock spokeswoman Ronja Abel says Livers will take over from Villa on Sept. 25. Villa had been in the post since 2011.

She says Bullock intends to appoint a replacement for the environmental agency before Livers leaves.

The governor’s next two-year budget proposal will be unveiled in November.
