A U.S. Army first sergeant who warned 82nd Airborne Division troops against unprofessional conduct in integrated units has been disciplined over an affair.

Former First Sgt. Chase Usher of B Company, 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team is now known as Sgt. 1st Class Chase Usher due to an affair on the North Carolina base. He was removed from his top noncommissioned role and given a staff job.

“Critics said it was bound to happen, and, sure enough, it did,” Army Times deadpanned Wednesday.

Redacted details of the affair were obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request.

“He didn’t foster a hostile environment to females at work, but was a horny bastard when it came to his personal life,” one soldier said in a sworn statement. “He often preached to us to look out for females in our ranks and not get into trouble with them and not have relationships with them. All the while, he was doing all of this.”

The disciplined NCO did not respond to the newspaper’s request for comment.

An investigator concluded that the affair had a “corrosive” effect on the unit, Army Times added.

The infantry division first integrated women into units in late summer 2017.
