JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas State reserve junior running back Jamal Jones is feeling better but remains in concussion protocol.

Arkansas State coach Blake Anderson made the announcement on Wednesday. Jones is considered “day to day” and might not be ready for Saturday’s game at No. 1 Alabama.

Jones was carted off the field late in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s 48-21 victory against Southeast Missouri State. After he was loaded onto a stretcher and hauled off the field, Jones flashed a positive signal to the Centennial Bank Stadium crowd and was able to move his hands and feet. He finished the game with four carries for 21 yards.

Anderson said Jones also is receiving treatment to heal his back.
