FLEMING, N.Y. (AP) - An upstate New York chef has admitted he was drunk when he crashed his car into another vehicle and killed a man.
The Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday that Stephen Landon pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter and other charges in county court. The 53-year-old Skaneateles (skin-ee-AT’-luhs) man now faces up to 13 years in prison for the crash that killed Travis Manwaring.
Landon was driving in Cayuga County last March when he crossed a center line and crashed head-on into Manwaring’s car. The 25-year-old died at the scene of the crash.
Police said Landon was driving with a blood alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit and was drinking in the car.
At the time of the crash Landon was a well-known, award-winning chef in central New York.
