OPINION:
Former CIA Director John Brennan tweeted his ringing endorsement for Colin Kaepernick’s national anthem protests Monday:
Colin Kaepernick drew our collective attention to the problem of continued racial injustice in America. He did so not to disrespect our flag but to give meaning to the words of the preamble of our Constitution—“in order to form a more perfect union.” Well done, Colin, well done. https://t.co/4ALyUxLjM5

“Colin Kaepernick drew our collective attention to the problem of continued racial injustice in America. He did so not to disrespect our flag but to give meaning to the words of the preamble of our Constitution—“in order to form a more perfect union.” Well done, Colin, well done’” Brennan tweeted.
Kaepernick is back in the news today as Nike has announced he’ll be the face of their latest “Just do it” campaign praising his protests as a noble “sacrifice.”
Brennan has been under scrutiny recently for a series of controversial tweets and comments criticizing President Trump after the president removed Brennan’s security clearance.
Trump made the anthem protests a major issue last year and Brennan’s comments can easily be interpreted as another attempt to poke the president on an issue near and dear to his heart.
