BOSTON (AP) - U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren is calling for three debates during the upcoming general election campaign.

The Massachusetts Democrat will face off against Republican state Rep. Geoff Diehl in the November contest as she seeks a second six-year term.

Warren says she’s planning to appear at the debates, including one scheduled for Oct. 21 and sponsored by a consortium of western Massachusetts media outlets, and a second scheduled for Oct. 30 sponsored by the Boston Globe and WCVB-TV.

A third, as yet unscheduled debate, will be sponsored by WBZ-TV.

An aide to Warren said she expects Diehl to agree and looks forward to debating in October.

An aide to Diehl didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. He defeated two other candidates to win the Republican nomination Tuesday.
