NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The New Orleans Pelicans have signed veteran free agent guard Darius Morris.
The 6-foot-4 Morris, whose signing was announced on Tuesday, has played in 132 regular season NBA games since turning pro in 2011 but comes to New Orleans from the NBA G League’s Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
He spent only three games with the Vipers late last season, but was productive in those games, averaging 19 points, 7.7 assists and 4.7 rebounds.
Morris is a former Los Angeles Lakers second-round draft choice out of Michigan. In addition to the Lakers, he has played for Philadelphia, the Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis and Brooklyn.
The Pelicans begin training camp on Sept. 25 and play their preseason opener in Chicago on Sept. 30.
