President Trump joked Saturday that he and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un have gotten along so well that they “fell in love.”
Praising the progress he said they’ve made toward halting the rogue regime’s nuclear program, Mr. Trump said he has averted what would have been a certain war with North Korea.
He said he and Mr. Kim have figured out they like each other, and they are planning a second summit, at Mr. Kim’s request.
The comments came at a political rally in West Virginia, where he’s stumping for Patrick Morrisey, the GOP candidate hoping to unseat Sen. Joe Manchin, a Democrat, in November.
Mr. Trump said his legacy on the economy, immigration and foreign policy — including those negotiations with North Korea — is on the line in the election, predicting Democrats will block him at every turn if they win control of either chamber of Congress.
He also cast his eye toward 2020, pillorying two Democrats eyeing White House bids of their own: Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Cory Booker.
Mr. Trump again called Ms. Warren “Pocahontas,” reprising his nickname based on her previous unsubstantiated claims of Native American heritage, and said the Democratic Party has grown so liberal it’s even outflanked the famously left-wing crusader.
“She’s considered a conservative,” he claimed.
He also mocked Mr. Booker for his attacks on Judge Kavanaugh during this past week’s Judiciary Committee action, saying he didn’t live up to his own self-billing as “Spartacus.”
