Former President George W. Bush reaffirmed his support for Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh following Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday.

Politico asked Freddy Ford, Mr. Bush’s chief of staff, whether his boss still supported Mr. Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court.

“Yes, he does,” the chief of staff replied.

Mr. Bush previously called Mr. Kavanaugh “a man of the highest integrity” who would make a “superb” justice. He reaffirmed his support again last week after Ms. Blasey Ford accused Mr. Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her 36 years ago at a high school party.

Ms. Blasey Ford testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday, sticking firm to her allegation against Mr. Kavanaugh of forcible groping and attempted rape. The judge, who also testified Thursday, has strongly maintained his innocence in light of two additional allegations of sexual misconduct that have come forward in the media.

Mr. Kavanaugh worked for Mr. Bush as an associate counsel and then staff secretary in the White House in 2003. He was later nominated by Mr. Bush and confirmed by the Senate as a judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
