President Trump’s meeting with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein remains on Thursday’s schedule, but it could be pushed back or even moved to Friday, a White House official said Thursday.
“If it needs to get pushed a few hours or maybe to the next day, they will,” said presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway.
Mr. Trump is set to talk with Mr. Rosenstein about a New York Times report that said he discussed secretly taping the president and sought to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove him from office.
On Wednesday, Mr. Trump said he may delay the meeting because he wanted to watch a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in which Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh will defend himself against sexual assault allegations.
The president also hinted that may not fire Mr. Rosenstein, saying his “preference would be to keep him.” Mr. Trump also said that Mr. Rosenstein told him The New York Times report was inaccurate.
