LAS VEGAS (AP) - Hundreds of unionized workers have marched in downtown Las Vegas to demand new contracts with two casino-hotels.
Members of the Culinary Union on Thursday marched down the Fremont Street entertainment district. The group of workers at one point was as long as three city blocks.
This is the latest effort from bartenders, housekeepers and other workers to secure new five-year labor agreements with the D and Golden Gate casino-hotels.
The workers’ contracts expired almost four months ago. Negotiations with management have not resulted in new agreements.
The union says it has proposed contract language that includes wage increases and stronger protections against sexual harassment in the workplace.
The workers chanted and held signs as they marched and then rallied outside the D.
Some bystanders took selfies with the protest as backdrop.
