Authorities have reopened a major freeway east of Los Angeles that was closed by a brushfire.

Caltrans says Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass was reopened in both directions Wednesday afternoon, a few hours after all lanes were shut down because of smoke from the fire and the need for fire engines to get through.

I-15 is a major connector between Southern California, high desert cities and Las Vegas.

About 250 firefighters were battling the 50-acre blaze. There’s no word on when it might be contained.

No buildings have burned, and no injuries are reported.
