OPINION:
For the second consecutive year, I loved President Trump’s speech at the United Nations, in which he stood up for America’s interests, most notably with his talk of ending unfair trade practices that have ballooned our trade deficit to $800 billion per year and cost millions of jobs (“Nikki Haley: U.N. laughed at Trump speech because ’they love how honest he is,’” Web, Sept. 26).
The world shouldn’t be surprised about Mr. Trump’s defiant stance, as he has been incessantly talking about this for more than 30 years.
What I found really illuminating about the character of the U.N. was that, after Mr. Trump chronicled his administration’s numerous historic successes, the gallery broke out into laughter.
I found it highly offensive that they would belittle Mr. Trump, who I believe is the only man in history who is qualified to win two separate Nobel Peace Prizes in the same year. For America’s astounding turnaround he deserves the Nobel Prize in economics, and for ending the 70-year-old Korean War, the Nobel Peace Prize.
Instead of laughing at him, world leaders should be in awe and looking to erect a monument of him on U.N. grounds.
