9:30 a.m.
The Modesto Police Department says a 6-year-old boy abducted from his central California home by his father has been found safe in the San Francisco Bay area.
Department spokeswoman Sharon Bear says Jayce Cosso was found safe Tuesday at a motel in Dublin.
She says she had no other detail and did not know if the boy was found with his father.
The department on Monday night issued an Amber Alert for the boy and said he was taken by his father, 41-year-old John Cosso, from his mother’s home in Modesto.
The boy’s mother, Kimberly Velente, tells reporters John Cosso showed up with a group of people who pepper sprayed their way into the house.
She says she grabbed her son and ran to the garage where she locked herself in her car but the abductors broke the window and took the boy.
