Minnesota Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen is staying at a hospital for evaluation after an incident at a Minneapolis hotel last weekend to which he has been linked.
A police report obtained by ESPN said police were called to Hotel Ivy in Minneapolis on Saturday because “an individual was threatening to shoot someone.”
Vikings general manager Rick Spielman said the team was aware of and “certainly concerned” by Griffen’s situation.
“We are currently focused on Everson’s well-being and providing the appropriate support for him and his family,” Spielman said in a statement.
The supsect may have been under the influence of alcohol or narcotics, according to the incident report, and it was also alleged that he threatened to assault members of the hotel staff.
Griffen played in the Vikings’ first two games of 2018 and recorded a half-sack in each game. But he did not play in Week 3’s home game against Buffalo due to a knee injury.
