CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Members of New Hampshire’s energy industry joined lawmakers in Concord to discuss priorities for next year’s legislative session.
Republican Gov. Chris Sununu and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Molly Kelly presented contrasting ideas on those issues at the start of the summit. New Hampshire Public Radio reports both discussed a pair of bills the governor vetoed this year concerning energy rates.
Lawmakers overturned one of the vetoes on a bill requiring utilities to buy more electricity from wood-burning power plants.
Sununu argues the way to lower energy rates is to allow for more infrastructure and to eliminate energy mandates. Kelly says both of Sununu’s vetoes made it harder for power to be produced locally, and benefits larger utility services.
