LAS VEGAS (AP) - The Latest on Michelle Obama’s rally in Las Vegas (all times local):

6:15 p.m.

Former first lady Michelle Obama is urging Nevadans to register to vote and to cast ballots this fall, warning them that if they sit out the November midterm election, “democracy continues with or without you.”

Obama made the comments Sunday at a rally in Las Vegas for the nonpartisan nonprofit organization she co-chairs, When We All Vote.

The organization encourages participation regardless of political affiliation and Obama said Sunday that she didn’t want to tell anyone how to vote but to emphasize why voting matters.

Obama is one of the most popular draws among Democrats but has so far limited her political engagement to the voter participation organization.

She didn’t make any overt partisan appeals Sunday but received loud cheers from the crowd when referring to her husband, former President Barack Obama, and when someone in the audience suggested she seek the presidency herself.

She’s scheduled to hold a similar event in Miami next week.
