OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Recruiting more nurses to work in mental health care could help address the shortages in the field in Nebraska.

A conference about the role nurses can play in mental health care will be held at the Scott Conference Center in Omaha on Sept. 12.

The event will also focus on the current opioid-abuse crisis and the related mental health care issues.

Dr. Howards Liu says developing more psychiatric nurses is critically important to addresses shortages in the field.
