LAWRENCE, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say two people have died after the motorcycle they were riding crashed in suburban Indianapolis while fleeing from an attempted traffic stop.

The Hancock County sheriff’s office says a deputy tried to stop the motorcycle early Wednesday after seeing the diver turn without signaling, but the driver sped away and eventually crashed at a roundabout in Lawrence. The sheriff’s office says the deputy soon found the crash scene.

The sheriff’s office says 24-year-old driver Jeremy Conger was pronounced dead at a hospital and passenger 27-year-old Jamie Short died at the scene. Both were from Indianapolis.

The crash is under investigation.
