Talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh told his listeners that Americans who are confused by the circus-like atmosphere surrounding Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s road to the U.S. Supreme Court fail to comprehend the Democrats’ modus operandi: “They need to destroy anybody credible who opposes them.”

Accusations by Christine Blasey Ford that President Trump’s pick for the high court tried to rape her in his teens has thrown a wrench into the voting plans of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, but Mr. Limbaugh said Monday it all was rather predictable.

The conservative radio host said Mrs. Blasey Ford is a “left-wing political activist” whose political goals match Democrats’ “everyday operational political strategy” of trying to destroy “a decent person and his family.”

“It’s not just Kavanaugh,” he said. “They need to destroy anybody credible who opposes them. They need to ruin them. As such, I don’t think decent people quite know how to deal with this. Decent people don’t spend their day strategizing like this. And, as such, they don’t end up being prepared for it. By definition, decent people are not prepared for this kind of thing. Not that they’re ignorant to it. It’s just they don’t go through each and every day studying and prepping on how to get ready for the next smear job from the Democrat Party.”

Sen. Charles E. Grassley told radio host Hugh Hewitt Tuesday that Republicans have unsuccessfully tried to reach Mr. Kavanaugh’s accuser for 36 hours. They want to schedule a public hearing for the California professor to share her story.

“So it kind of raises the question … do they want to come to [the] public hearing or not?” Mr. Grassley said, Reuters reported.

“I want to hear from Dr. Ford,” Mr. Grassley said. “And she deserves to be heard because these are serious accusations. And I would surely hope she’d come Monday. I mean, after all, [I] read all the details she put in the Washington Post. She’s surely prepared. She hired a lawyer, I understand, back in August.”

Mr. Limbaugh said observers should not discount documented evidence that the judge’s accuser is a partisan activist.

“She has worn one of those vagina hats at some anti-Trump marches,” he said. “She is cited in a San Jose Mercury News article as wearing the hat at the march, which the newspaper said was held because people were ’angered by the Trump administration’s proposed cuts to research. She also signed [a] ’Letter Fighting Trump Border Enforcement’ — Christine Blasey Ford signed a letter fighting Trump’s ’Zero Tolerance’ policy at the U.S.-Mexico border. … So clearly she’s a political activist. She’s an angry political activist.”

Mr. Trump told reporters Tuesday that Mr. Kavanaugh is “anxious” to publicly defend his reputation.
