PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Two state senators are hosting an annual education summit to release a legislative action plan on education.

Democratic Sens. Hanna Gallo and Harold Metts have planned the seventh annual Rhode Island Education Summit for Monday at the Department of Administration in Providence. Gallo is the chairwoman of the Senate Education Committee and Metts is the vice chairman.

The education committee will release the plan, called “21st Century Education for a 21st Century Workforce.”

There will be sessions about the benefits of multilingualism and the benefits of the arts on student performance and the economy, as well as a session about science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics education.

The summit will be broadcast on Tuesday on Capitol Television, Cox channels 15 and 1013 and Verizon Fios channel 34.
