BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The North Dakota National Guard plans to send three helicopters and 15 people to the East Coast to help in the emergency response to Hurricane Florence.
The Guard says they’ll depart Saturday morning from Bismarck to pre-position themselves in Maryland in case they’re asked to help with relief efforts.
Specifically, the Guard is sending two Blackhawk helicopters, a Lakota medivac helicopter and 15 people including pilots, crew chiefs, maintainers and a medic.
The North Dakota Guard has not yet received a specific request for emergency assistance from the states affected by Hurricane Florence, but says it expects that such a request could come soon.
