NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A $25 million donation will set up a scholarship program for military veterans to pursue graduate and professional degrees at Vanderbilt University.
The university says the donation from the Lee and Ramona Bass Foundation will support scholarships in five of Vanderbilt’s schools. Those include the Law School, the Owen Graduate School of Management, Peabody College, the School of Medicine and the School of Nursing.
The Bass Military Scholars Program will fund at least six scholarships for veterans starting in the 2019-2020 school year. Once it’s fully endowed, the program is expected to support 40 students annually.
Vanderbilt is conducting a national search for a former military officer to lead and help built out the scholarship program.
Lee Bass has been a Vanderbilt board member since 2009.
