PHOENIX (AP) - Police have released the name of a man who was struck and killed by a car as he crossed a Phoenix street.

They say 61-year-old James White was in the marked crosswalk when he was fatally struck Monday night.

Police say officers responded to the scene near 33rd and Northern avenues after reports that a pedestrian had been hit.

White was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the driver of the vehicle that hit White remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.

The driver’s name hasn’t been released and police say charges currently are under review.
