There’s not a trace of desperation or despair among the Washington Mystics as they enter what could be their last game of the 2018 season.
They’re behind the Seattle Storm two games to none in the WNBA Finals, but the marked improvement in how they played in Sunday’s Game 2 has everyone optimistic.
“Anything is a positive (after) our Game 1,” Natasha Cloud said. “That was just a terrible showing for us. It was huge of us to be able to turn around in Game 2 and be the team that we are.”
Here’s everything you need to know for Game 3.
Opponent: Seattle Storm (Storm lead series 2-0)
Where: EagleBank Arena at George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia
When: Wednesday, Sept. 12, 8 p.m.
Television: ESPN2
What to watch for: Two ways the Mystics can score some more points: 3-pointers and free throws. Washington is looking to avoid another shooting night like Sunday, when the team collectively shot 0-for-16 from behind the arc. … Coach Mike Thibault has been vocal about needing Elena Delle Donne to get to the line more. The best free-throw shooter on the team, and possibly in the league, has taken only five free throws this series. … If Seattle closes the series out, it will be their third WNBA title in franchise history (2004, 2010). If Washington wins, the plan is to return to EagleBank Arena Friday night for Game 4, although Hurricane Florence could be headed that direction by then.
