ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Miami quarterback N’Kosi Perry will not be with the eighth-ranked Hurricanes for their opener against No. 25 LSU on Sunday night because of a violation of team rules.

The Hurricanes announced the one-game suspension on Saturday, a few hours before the team left for the game. Miami coach Mark Richt did not offer specifics, but said Perry “made some positive changes” since the decision was handed down.

Perry will be able to dress for Miami’s home opener against Savannah State on Sept. 8. He did not travel with the Hurricanes on Saturday.

Cade Weldon will back up Miami starter Malik Rosier on Sunday. Perry is entering his redshirt freshman year and did not see any game action in 2017.
