LOWELL, Mass. (AP) - Police have identified a suspect in connection with a shooting in Massachusetts that left a 24-year-old man seriously injured.

Lowell police say they have issued an arrest warrant for 26-year-old Dwayne Johnson, of Haverhill. Johnson is wanted for armed assault with intent to murder.

Police say the victim encountered Johnson around 2:20 a.m. Sunday after leaving a restaurant in Lowell.

Authorities say the two men knew each other, and Johnson shot the victim once in the abdomen before fleeing. The gun was found in a nearby alley.

The victim remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Police say they consider Johnson to be armed and dangerous and ask anyone with information to contact them.
