Are you ready for some football? A Monday night party, perhaps?
The Washington Redskins play tonight in their first of two Monday Night Football appearances this season. For an early-season matchup, there’s a lot on the line: It’s a rematch of a thrilling, disappointing 34-31 Redskins overtime loss a year ago, Adrian Peterson will face one of his old teams and the winner will be either 3-1 or 4-1.
Without further ado, here’s everything you need to know to watch:
Opponent: New Orleans Saints (3-1)
Where: Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans
When: Monday, Oct. 8, 8:15 p.m.
Television: ESPN
Radio: The Team 980
What to watch for: Future Hall of Famer Drew Brees faces off with the Redskins’ defense that’s ranked No. 1 both overall and against the pass. The Saints are the only team not to have thrown an interception this year. … If and when Brees reaches 201 passing yards for the night, Brees will become the NFL’s all-time passing leader. The NFL plans to stop the game and honor the achievement with a 75-second video tribute from Peyton Manning, whose record will be broken. … Because every other NFC East team lost Sunday, the Redskins will hold onto the division lead even if they lose to the Saints. But a win would put them in firm control, at 3-1 and a game and a half ahead of Dallas and Philadelphia.
