Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. continued to criticize the New York Giants in a sit-down with ESPN’s Josina Anderson that aired Sunday, including thinly veiled shots at coach Pat Shurmur and critiques of quarterback Eli Manning.
The interview, which inexplicably included rapper Lil Wayne seated next to Beckham, focused on why there have been tensions between Beckham and the Giants.
“I just want to be able to be the very best that I can, and I don’t feel like I’m given an opportunity to be the very best that I can, to bring that every single day,” Beckham said.
“How come we can’t throw the ball for more than 20 yards? How come we don’t attempt or try to throw the ball for more than 20 yards?” Beckham said. “Those are questions that we have to figure out. But for now, I would say it’s our heart. It’s our energy and our heart.”
Beckham added that he works “entirely way too hard,” that Eli Manning is “not gonna get out the pocket” and that whether he was happy in New York was a tough question.
Shurmur was reportedly “absolutely livid” about the interview, according to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, and Beckham apologized to the team Saturday night.
