Actress Alyssa Milano, a founder of the Me Too Movement, said Thursday night that Bill Clinton should have undergone an FBI probe for the sexual assault allegations against him.
While denouncing how the allegations against Judge Brett Kavanaugh were handled, CNN’s Chris Cuomo asked if the Supreme Court nominee should be given “the benefit of the doubt” like Mr. Clinton once was.
“No, and I don’t think Bill Clinton should’ve got that benefit, in hindsight,” Ms. Milano said, “As a nation, we were in a different time. Women were continually being silenced, and we gave him the benefit of the doubt. I think we probably should have investigated the allegations against him as well.”
In the 1990s, Mr. Clinton was accused of rape and sexual assault by Juanita Broaddrick and Paula Jones, respectively.
Ms. Milano used to be an ardent supporter of Mr. Clinton’s.
“Bill Clinton, I love you so much. Like crazy amounts of love,” Ms. Milano tweeted in 2012.
Now she says her position on sexual assault allegations is not partisan politics.
“This is about humanity,” Ms. Milano told Mr. Cuomo. “Even though this process is so uncomfortable for everyone, we really need to look at where we want to be, who we want to be as a nation, and really examine this in a nonpolitical way and a human way.”
