BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - About 1,000 University of Vermont students and some faculty are protesting the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court.
The students held a walk-out Thursday.
Junior Hillary Ross said it’s her hope and belief that Kavanaugh won’t get confirmed.
The Burlington Free Press reports that many people see Kavanaugh as the deciding vote that could lead to limits on access to abortion.
Republicans say an FBI investigation into allegations that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted women 30 years ago found “no hint of misconduct” but Democrats accuse the White House of slapping crippling constraints on the probe.
Nearly 150 UVM faculty have signed a letter in support all survivors of sexual assault and Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, who testified that she had been assaulted by Kavanaugh as a teenager.
