CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - As Joe Manchin mulls a decision on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, the man trying to take the West Virginia Democratic senator’s job is taking him to task for being cautious.

In a statement Thursday, Republican U.S. Senate nominee Patrick Morrisey said Manchin has lacked leadership on the nomination, even calling him “Sideline Joe.”

Manchin spokesman Jonathan Kott said earlier Thursday that Manchin likely won’t make a decision until Friday, the same day a procedural vote is scheduled on Kavanaugh’s nomination.

Manchin campaign spokesman Grant Herring said Morrisey “puts politics over people.”
