HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - A Mississippi court has upheld the sentence for a man convicted in a deadly wreck in 2015.
WDAM-TV reported The Mississippi Court of Appeals affirmed the sentence of Steve Anderson of Jones County. Anderson was convicted of driving under the influence and possession of methamphetamine in 2016.
Anderson was charged in a wreck that killed 19-year-old Isaac Holloway.
Witnesses saw Anderson throw unknown objects in the woods after the wreck.
He was sentenced as a habitual offender to serve eight years in prison and was fined $25,000.
Anderson had contended in his appeal that the sentence was disproportionate to the crime of methamphetamine possession. He also said the verdicts were against the weight of the evidence. The Court of Appeals found no error in the sentence.
