Consumer confidence just hit an 18-year high, from 135.3 in September to 137.9 in October.

And all the campaigning Democrats go, gulp.

The economy, forever and ever the key ingredient for the winning political platform, has been soaring under this current administration — and the smart voter knows, why rock the boat?

After all, Democrats’ biggest vow to voters is they won’t be President Donald Trump. In light of the lightness of foot with which shoppers are walking toward this holiday season, that vow just falls flat.

The Conference Board reported both stats, from September and from October, are the highest since September of 2000.

Of 2000.

“Consumers do not foresee the economy losing steam anytime soon,” Conference Board economist Lynn Franco told NBC News. “Rather, they expect the strong pace of growth to carry over into early 2019.”

Yes, into 2019 — well past November.

So much for such Democratic slogans like Resist Trump, or Down With Trump, or Impeach Trump.

More Trump is more like it.

After all, any president who can usher in an economic boon that hasn’t been seen for years surely must be doing something right.

Democrats ought to stop trying to tear down this White House and recognize his achievements.

“The share of respondents saying that jobs are ’plentiful’ rose this month to 45.9 percent, the highest since January 2001,” NBC wrote. “Consumers’ spirits have been lifted by a strong labor market. Unemployment has dropped to 3.7 percent, the lowest since 1969.”

With numbers like that, and midterm elections a week away, voters aren’t likely to rock the boat.

After all, why fix what ain’t broke.
