LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A Kentucky lawmaker’s son who was put into a medically induced coma following a fall from an apartment balcony near the University of Kentucky campus is improving.

News outlets cited a Facebook post by state Rep. Chris Harris, who said his son, Corbin Harris, started responding to commands Tuesday at a Lexington hospital. The 19-year-old university student fell in late August.

Harris says his son still has a “long and uncertain road ahead” but had a breakthrough with being able to process commands and act on them.

Chris Harris is a Democrat who represents District 93 in the Kentucky House of Representatives, which includes Martin County and a portion of Pike County. Harris is running for re-election in November against Republican challenger Norma Kirk McCormick.
