The Cleveland Browns have fired head coach Hue Jackson, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday, citing an unnamed source.

Jackson entered the 2018 season with a 1-31 record as Cleveland’s coach over the past two seasons, including an 0-16 campaign in 2017. The Browns got off to a significantly better start this year: a tie with division rival Pittsburgh in Week 1 and a win over the New York Jets in Week 3, the franchise’s first win since Dec. 24, 2016.
But the Browns, at 2-5-1 after eight games, were looking to make a coaching change partly due to discord between Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley, ESPN reported Sunday.
The Browns would be the first team this year to fire their coach.
Before Cleveland, Jackson had one 8-8 campaign as the Oakland Raiders’ head coach and at one time was the Washington Redskins’ offensive coordinator and running backs coach.
