When the Los Angeles Dodgers won Game 3 of the World Series to force at least five games, they cemented another “sports equinox.”
For the second time this month, the four major American sports leagues — the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL — will have at least one game on the same day.
It’s the fifth time there will be two equinoxes in the same year. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg this time.
Los Angeles will host an NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL and MLS game on Sunday. And one of Washington’s own teams, the Wizards, will be involved in this hectic day around I-10:
- New York Rangers at Los Angeles Kings, 3:30 p.m. (12:30 PST)
- Green Bay Packers at Los Angeles Rams, 4:25 p.m. (1:25 PST)
- Houston Dynamo at L.A. Galaxy, 4:30 p.m. (1:30 PST)
- Boston Red Sox at Los Angeles Dodgers, 8:15 p.m. (5:15 PST)
- Washington Wizards at Los Angeles Clippers, 9:30 p.m. (6:30 PST)
Meanwhile, back East, other Washington teams will be in action besides the Wizards. The Redskins play at the New York Giants, and D.C. United plays their regular season finale on the road at Chicago Fire.
