SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - U.S. Rep. Chris Stewart, R-Utah, has authored several books that have made The New York Times best-seller list.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports that is partly because his own campaign is buying them.

Federal Election Commission filings show that the campaign committee Friends for Chris Stewart spent $3,956 on Stewart’s books from July through September.

The filings also show that the campaign, since its creation in 2011, has made more than $32,000 in purchases from his publisher, Deseret Book. About $1,200 of that was for office and fundraising supplies, but the bulk of the expenditures were for books.

Lance Stewart, the son of and campaign manager for the Republican representative for Utah’s 2nd Congressional District, says the re-election effort gives away the books to delegates and constituents so they can better understand Stewart’s view of the nation.
