ASHBURN — The Redskins will be without wide receiver Jamison Crowder for a third straight game, while cornerback Quinton Dunbar (shin), wideout Paul Richardson (knee, shoulder) and running back Chris Thompson (rib, knee) are questionable Sunday against the New York Giants.
Coach Jay Gruden said Dunbar will be evaluated before kickoff to determine his chances of playing. The cornerback sat out of practice this week, but spent his time working off to the side with the team’s training staff.
Dunbar was diagnosed with a nerve issue in his shin and Gruden said the injury is going to “take a little bit of time” to heal.
“He’s in some pain when he runs,” Gruden said Wednesday. “It gives out on him a little bit. We’re going to try to strengthen it.”
Crowder, meanwhile, hasn’t practiced since suffering an ankle injury on Oct. 8 against the New Orleans Saints. In a contract year, Crowder has just 13 catches for 134 yards in four games.
In his absence, Maurice Harris has played in the slot.
Richardson and Thompson, meanwhile, have both made progress since their initial injuries.
Thompson, who has missed the last two games, told reporters he was “feeling good” and planned on playing against the Giants, as long as he felt comfortable.
Richardson returned to practice Wednesday after missing last week’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.
